The Basics of Technique Class allows the actor to develop new

skills without the pressure of deadlines and audience

expectations. It also allows an actor the opportunity to observe

others as they make break throughs in a mutually encouraging

environment; as one student put it, “this class is a safe place to

land.” The goal of this workshop is to encourage the skill of

“Believably motivated behaviour in imaginary circumstances”.

To achieve this goal, we do weekly exercises chosen to offer the

actor a new skill or a new perspective; these skills can be applied

immediately in your next audition or rehearsal. No experience is

necessary but, as each class builds on the one before it, regular

attendance is expected. “C’mon - get you’re a** to class!”
